About Me
Josh Collingwood is a licensed mental health counselor specializing in both trauma work and pastoral counseling. Josh helps clients who are struggling with emotional, spiritual, and relational issues that stem from traumatic events or life transitions, and believes that healing is possible through a holistic approach that integrates the mind, body, and soul. He offers a safe and compassionate space where clients can explore their feelings, beliefs, and values without judgment.
Josh uses evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and EMDR to help clients address their concerns and achieve their goals. He also believes in the role of faith in the healing process, and can incorporate biblical principles and prayer into the therapy sessions if desired.
Josh comes from a background in pastoral ministry where he served in student ministries as well as worship and teaching roles. He has a deep desire to walk with people on their journey towards recovery and wholeness.

FAQ
What should I expect?
Counseling is typically pretty laid back.
We basically just talk. I try my best to be a
better listener than a talker. I try not to give advice,
but to listen and walk alongside you as you process
the situation and arrive at the best possible solution.
Sometimes the younger (and occasionally even the older) crowd prefers to fidget
while we talk. I have a number of fidget toys in my office. I often find that this helps
make the process less awkward for middle-high school students (and even adults) who may not be used to this process.
Are these sessions confidential?
Yes. Everything that is said in the office stays there. Anything I write down
is locked up at the end of the day and there are at least three locks separating
it from outside our office.
The only exceptions to the rule are:
- A client tells me they are going to hurt/neglect someone else
- A minor tells me they are in imminent danger (or suicidal), at which point, caregivers are notified and appropriate action is taken.
In these cases, I am required by law to report the situation to the appropriate authorities.
Do you offer telehealth/in-person services?
I can offer both telehealth and in-person services. Whichever works best for you. We can meet at my office in Fortville, or online using a secure, HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing platform.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. I am in-network with Anthem (excluding HIP/medicare/medicaid) and Aetna. Some things to note:
- Insurance companies will require an official diagnosis.
- We will need to check your benefit status before the first session. In some cases, this may require you to call and ask about your mental health coverage.
- You are responsible for anything not covered by your insurance.
What is the cost of a typical session?
Sessions are $125 each
I am able to accept HSA (Health Savings Account) cards as well as debit, or credit.
